The global coronavirus pandemic has been with us for over a year now. Our hearts go out to all affected and we are deeply grateful to our first responders and medical professionals for their tireless effort to contain the spread and heal the sick.

We know this is a stressful and unpredictable time for many Americans. We also know that getting outside is vital for both your mental and physical health. We want to reassure you that the health and safety of our guests and staff are of paramount importance to us at Backpack The Trails LLC.

Our trips are small, with a limited number of participants, and are a great way to escape the crowds. We look forward to the months ahead, to explore this beautiful world together, on our own two feet.

We take your well-being seriously and we are working hard to keep our guests and staff safe, especially in the current environment.

Stay healthy, and remember to wash your hands.

See you on the trail,

Michelle

Here are a few steps we have taken, to help keep you safe on the trail:

😷 We will follow the advice and directives of local, state, and federal guidelines in each trip's jurisdiction.

⚕ We require having a Certified Wilderness First Responder on all of our trips.  This helps us to minimize risks, and identify and respond quickly to health issues in the wilderness.

📡 We always carry a Garmin mini InReach satellite messenger.  This device can be used in the event of an emergency in the wilderness, to notify local authorities when we need assistance or to activate search and rescue.

💦 We practice good backcountry hygiene and sanitation. For every trip, we have at least one trip leader who is also a Certified ServSafe® Food Protection Manager, to ensure proper food safety and cleanliness.

🚫 In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have changed our cancellation policies for the foreseeable future and will NOT be charging any cancellation fees for our upcoming trips until 30 days before trip start.

☂ We recommend that you purchase your own Travel Insurance for any trip.  Remember to add "Cancel For Any Reason" to your policy, as most insurance won't cover illness or quarantine as a reason to cancel.  You need to purchase your trip insurance within a short period of time after booking your trip and be sure to read all of the fine print.
